Hemp and Marijuana are both species of the Cannabis Plant. They differ in their CBD and THC composition and legally.
Marijuana is high in THC and contains lesser amounts of CBD. Hemp contains high amounts of CBD but cannot(legally)contain more than 0.3% of THC by dry weight.
While (legal)hemp can contain no more than 0.3% THC by dry weight, marijuana can contain up to 30% THC content.
