Thousands of scientific articles details the many ways that Endocannabinoids support the health of our bodies and minds. To keep internal functions running smoothly, your body produces endocannabinoids as needed. Listed below are some of your body’s functions that endocannabinoids help balance.

  • The immune system

  • Mental health

  • Appetite

  • Cardiovascular health

  • Sleep

  • Eye health specifically intraocular pressure

  • Memory

  • Digestion

  • Skin health

  • Reproduction and Fertility

  • Neuroprotective properties

CBD effects on the endocannabinoid system are very different from other classic phytocannabinoids like THC. In fact, unlike THC, CBD does not directly bind to receptors. Instead of stimulating your ECS (and potentially overstimulating it), CBD modifies CB1 receptors so that they are harder to stimulate and over-stimulate. CBD also helps boost your natural levels of endocannabinoids this is accomplished by inhibiting their reuptake and degradation. This binary activity of CBD on the endocannabinoid system, as well as countless other benefits on other systems (like serotonin and pain receptors) has a balancing effect for many people.
